The Orbotix BB 8 Sphero Star Wars with white and orange graphics makes a perfect gift for the die hard fans of the movie series Star Wars. It is an actual working droid that can be controlled via your Bluetooth enabled iOS or Android devices, albeit in a smaller size. The adorable device accurately mimics the movements of the droid that is featured in Disney’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It uses gyroscopic propulsion to move around your room and has an operational range of 30m. All you need to do is download the BB 8 App Enabled Droid on your compatible Apple or Android device to get started. You can use the app’s drive or patrol mode to move the cute little robot around when you want it, or on its own. You can even use your voice commands to control the droid. Since the robot has an evolving personality, it changes its attitude and actions as you interact with it. The other fun feature this droid offers is ‘holographic messaging’ using augmented reality. It comes with an inductive charging base which plugs into chargers and your computers with a USB cable.
